We received some pretty surprising results with this one! There’s definitely big opportunity brewing in the gamification or game based learning market.
42% of poll-takers responded either that their company is using games as a learning tool, or is considering using gamification for training in the very near future. Only 2% responded that their company has considered it inappropriate.
This implies that over half of our poll respondents (56%) have not yet considered it, or they are unsure what gamification is and how it can truly aid the learning and development of their employees. To me, this represents a HUGE opportunity for game based learning solutions providers like us!
DC Gartner states that by 2014 over 70% of Global 2000 organizations will be using games for learning purposes. Why? Gamification paves the way for a safe and engaging learning environment where employees’ acquisition and retention of information is significantly greater than traditional teaching methods. LTLMagazine.com discovered that after 6 weeks gamification learners have a 45% retention rate- compared to only 4% for learners using traditional classroom and study methods.
And don’t think the corporate population is too old for this! The average game user is 37 year old and almost 30% are over 50 !
